1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup milk
2 2/3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tbsp grated orange rind (optional)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tsps baking powder
2 tbsps salad oil
1 1/2 tsps salt
1/2 cup Steen's Pure Cane Syrup
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts or raisins


Sift together sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add nuts. Combine milk, orange rind, orange juice, salad oil and syrup. Add to flour mixture all at once; stir just enough to blend. Turn into well-greased loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 2 3/4 inches. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/4 hours. Cool before removing from pan.

YEILD: 1 loaf
