6 cups sliced cooking apples
5 tbsp Steen's Pure Cane Syrup
(4 large apples) divided
1/2 cup sugar, divided
3 tbsp butter or margarine
1/4 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon, divided


Pare and core apples; cut into 1/8 inch thick slices. Mix together ¼ cup of the sugar, nutmeg, salt and ¼ tsp of the cinnamon. Alternate apples and sugar mixture in a greased 6 X 10 X 2 inch casserole. Spoon 4 tablespoon of the syrup over top. Mix together remaining ¼ cup sugar, 1 tablespoon syrup, ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, butter and sifted flour to a crumb consistency. Sprinkle evenly over casserole. Bake 375 degree for 50 minutes. Serve warm with Steen’s Hard Sauce.*
