1/2 cup soft shortening
2 cups flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp soda
1 egg, unbeaten
1 1/2 tsps ginger
1/3 cup Steen's Pure Cane Syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp cloves


Mix sugar and butter or shortening until creamed. Add all syrup and egg; then add all dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Drop cookie dough by teaspoonfuls on a slightly greased sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
